Good day everyone, I have an interest in joining a pipe and drum corps, but I have no idea what I am doing. Is it hard to learn how to do this and what am I looking at to learn how to play and be a valuable part of the corps.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Chief Lasky of the Lewisville, TX Fire Department. This Department has 9 members in their LFD Pipes and Drums group. 2010 is the third year of their "Keeping Tradition Alive Symposiums" Check out their website here: www.lfdpipesanddrums.com Chief Lasky explains how the LFD Pipes and Drums were started in his 2008 KTA Speech included on the Music Link on their website. Greetings all from sunny South Africa I am a firefighter who recently started a small Pipe band we are only 6 guys and i am the only active firefghter our bass drummer is a retired Divisional Officer in our ranking structure which is based on the old british system , while we are not an official Fire Dept band we have played for our Department and the Department of Public Safety on many occasions , our band is self funded and we do paid engagements as well as charity gigs mostly to just have fun and play the music we enjoy , to me nothing adds ceremony to a Fire Department parade quite like a Pipe Band , Keep safe out there ,Regards

need help. I am the president of the south carolina firefighters pipes n drums. we are having trouble getting it up and running..fundraising as well keeping an interest...any ideas or assistance would be appreciated
