Anyone using helmet cameras on a regular basis?

What brand and what sort of incidents?

Spot on Roy! Two very different applications...
got one for sell right now its a oregon scientific fire helmat cam with all the extras opened but never used has sd card helmat bracket usb cable to hook up to your computer or television, 4-aa rechargable batteries with charger, and some extra stuff.
i was thinking about buying one bc nobodys has one at our dept.
yeah, that is the current brand. The newest brand is from Fire Cam, completely manufactured by them. You won't be able to find it aywhere else. It's designed as a professional camera, not a consumer camera like the Oregon Scientific cm
I also use a helmet cam and use it for training and document operations and keep the footage on a thumb drive. Yes, it is still cool to show the guys the next day at shift change the call and it makes for a quick roundtable of discussion of tactics and critique. Yes, the motion of the camera is at times hard to follow but I have found that if your helmet is sucured down just alittle tighter the vibration is greatly reduced. It is also great when I go to ouitside training hands-on classes to record the action so that I can bring that back to the firehouse and show everyone else. If I pay to go to the class and bring the information and hands-on portion back for all to see, it is greatly appreciated and the guys get training oput of it as well and not having to go through the class as well. Take care and be safe.

Again, he was using a camera NOT DESIGNED for firefighting. The new FCII is and it's no where near that much money.
Has anyone used the oregon scientific atc2k? I recently purchased one, and was wondering how well they tak the heat. I cant find any info on them pertaining to firefighting use.

i have the fire cam 1080p if you go to my profile i have a recent video of a smoke invest.

I love it only bad thing is that if you turn it on to play you have to physically press the button to stop recording or it wont save that video.....learned the hard way by having it first time on with a fully involved 3 story beach front house

I have OREGON SCIENTIFIC ATC-2000 ACTION VIDEO CAMERA, and it is fine in the daylight, but poor in the dark or during transitions.  I lost a lot of good interior attack training pictures due to it.  However, it handles the heat well; used it in a flashover simulator this past April with no problems, only got a few good pics, but that was due to a mounting issue.  I found that no matter what cam you have, rethink how your helmet rests after having a hood and mask on.  What I thought was good position ended up being the ceiling due to position.  Best position for me is hanging down of the the helmet almost nose level, when you think about it after everything goes on for interior it ends up working at eye level, but then you get a little bit of the mask in it.  Going with a fire cam after income tax.
