The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Thank you Heather but I'm ok. But thank you for your concern.

Ya'll get the idea.

Hello all!!  Sorry I haven't been around more here lately, just been busy trying to catch EMS runs while on probation.  Had another first the other night as well...got to fill both roles of FF/EMT...we had to extricate a driver from a vehicle and I was one of the EMTs to assist with the patient in the ambulance.

Heather---the call came in as a single MVA that I was going to be an EMT for, but the chief also told me to bring my gear because it sounded like we might have to use the jaws to gain access to the patient.  Obviously, we needed the jaws as the LH A-pillar and roof was crushed down to a few inches above the patient.  After peeling the driver's door back and raising that corner of the roof, we were able to board and load the patient.  Quite a learning experience!!

Just got notified tonite that we lost 2 more ff from our area due to illness. That makes 3 in a week.

I missed a fire last nite a good worker from what I hear!  I guess my body needed sleep more than to go play. Plus I worked 2nd shift on Tue. nite and turned around and worked 1st yesterday with a 2 hr drive each way.

Ok, Understood
Thanks for the good explanation. As somthing like an EMT-P from Germany, I can not know that. I am learning something new every day here. :)

That is true. But all I work with is wildland, and in the wildland fire can be a very good thing. As long as it is not in an urban interface. It will put alot back into the ground so new can grow in and preovide better grass for wildlife.
