What are some 'necessary' apps that are free that i should have for the Iphone and/or Ipad?

I know that theres a lot of apps out there that gaurentee that they do as good job as others, but i was wondering if theres any apps that are out there that arent 'cheap knock-offs' or other usless junk. Any suggestions would be much appreciated...

Best iPhone app I have is "911 Toolkit." Has a lot of useful stuff.

Not sure what you're trying to get out of the app, but if you're looking for fire service and EMS news,Daily Dispatch has a great app that you can download for any mobile device.
