as I sit here thinking... there was at least 20 times (which quickly pop into my head) in which I was in a burning bldg and the thought entered my mind - WE SHOULD NOT BE IN HERE !!!

 

since...

a) all people potentially inside are obviously dead

and / or

b) we are in a WAY TOO precarious space with way too much risk to our FF lives to be saving a bldg and furniture

personally - i think more officers NEED to ORDER FFs to STAY OUT OF BLDGS ... and GET OUT of BLDGS faster and sooner...

 

rapid search and rescue seems to no longer be rapid... instead I keep hearing stories of tooo many FFs staying in burning bldgs WAY TOO LONG

 

and exposure to all sorts of schit - is sooo unnecessary - and I don't know why the State AND officers don't DEMAND better protection

 

and heart attacks are tough ones - since there are many causes - but attention to self care must be integrated into the FDs culture... my dept was pretty good with rehab practices since we had a chief die on scene of a heart attack just prior to my official joining... but for the most part no one ever spoke to me about my health any other time

Hope everybody had a great Christmas.Wasn't bad here but not a white one.Sounds as if that may change by tommorrow.

Now on to getting things rolling for 2012.Starting to go through procedures and guidelines and making some changes.Appointment of the remaining couple of officer positions are looking a bit more problematic.

We are definitely having a rough ending to 2011.lets hope '12 is  a better year.

Clear down to 35 at night,eh??Sounds like you better work on some "alternative" heat sources.;-)

Sassy Sarah Sn*w Lady - you greatly under-estimate how awesome you are.... you are by far the MOST CREATIVE 16 yr old girl I have ever met in my life.....    but don't be thinking you can get away with blatantly using a naughty word ;-)~   you have to at least use a * (sn*wflake) symbol ;-)  to fluff up the word.... hee hee hee   and great picture !!!

 

I would love to see more holiday pictures from all of you - so get a posting...

 

And yes my Wicked Evilicious Elf Assistant - very few clothes means lots of heat needed :)   plus it has been like 35 F degrees here at night lately... and yes, I really do need a nice warm bed partner - so perhaps you could work on that for me :)   and get me a great holiday present :)
