The CBS Sunday Morning Show from 9AM to 10:30 AM will have a segment on firefighters if anyone is interested. Set your recorders or check the website after the show airs to view the segment.
I dont believe we all need to be recognized for what we do. I didnt get into it for recognition. Dont get me wrong, I do appreciate it when some one says thank you.
Not that its being reconized for our work. It might be telling the public we are still out there. In a way selling ourselves to the public that we are here and few in someplaces.
Remember some areas of the county do have fewer people in stations and they are getting older and just hunging on.
I am a volunteer recruiter and part of a committe in our county looking for anything to get people interested in joining any volunteer fire and rescue companies in our county. Alot of times it takes a TV show or movie to get people interested to call our 800 number or website to join a company. Some will approuch a fire company direct for appilcation or we go out to events and talk to people about joining.
We even use PSAs that were made for our county and many volunteers including myself to be part of the making of them.
We do get negative press because some volunteer did something criminal or something stuid in front of the public or media.
So we need every good media item we can get and the right people to mentor new people and keep them away from members that went rotten or never should have step into a station.
