Mayor Duffy has released his 2010-2011 budget today. Some of the line items that would effect firefighting would be:

1 - Reduce the overtime 37% that is spent on the fire department.

2- Delay a major renovation at the Genesee St Fire Station (Engine 7)

3 - Use $700,000 from the Rochester 2% fund which the Supreme Court has already ruled the City cannot spend the money however they want. Mayor Duffy says he will seek State Legislation to change that ruling.

If you view the budget, the Fire Department part starts on page 288 of the PDF file.

Hey kid,

Bad enough FFN loads up this site with "news" posts, why are you doing it?
I'm just lettin everyone know. Sorry if I bothered you.
Since I'm betting Major Duffy is not as well known as you might think, that item may not be as newsworthy as you think. My suggestion, let FFN post the "news" and maybe you'd be better off asking relevant questions or concerns you have while you are learning to be a "firefighter". Just a thought...
