Our Jrs dont get anything. But once you have all your trainning our fire dept active members get a handheld radio, mobile radio for vehical, and a pager
I never heard of that rule in my life sory to say Ralph. Here in Massachusetts and all new england states your aloud to have scanners, radios and cbs all you want. We have alot of sparks, buffs and photographers up here that go to fires all over and some of them also belong to radio groups that transmit on privately paid frequencies about fires and other calls around the states. And the same goes with firefighters (since alot of them are sparks and buffs to).
"radios" that donot transmit are not "radios"...they are either scanners or they are dust collectors....We issue a pager to every member and they can monitor Fire 1...or can be set to trip for our Fire Calls...Some of us crazy ones that do both EMS and Fire have the EMS frequency set as well....and yes...Probies get one as well....they are expected to respond to calls just like everyone else.....Paul
that's exactly how i feel it doesn't transmit because i had no need to program that "different" frequencies. if you know how to program them you would understand what im talking about. but thank you for the post
