Well My brothers and sisters to the east of WI in the path of this snowstorm get ready, she is mean. I think we have about a foot so far and still expecting to get some more as the day goes on, along with high winds and drifting snow.
I worked last night for a while, before the bulk of the storm hit, and they were bringing on extra crews and sending a pump with ambulance calls, if anything just to help clear a path for the cot. I believe this may have been the first time that 2 guys were called in just to plow the stations out. I'm off today and no call for OT, but took me forever just to clear the driveway enough to be able to bring the wife to work. (yes, I have a snowblower and a nine year old)
Must be global warming Reg, The snow is the nice packy kind, makes it tough to clear, I was much warmer after the first round of shovelling...I can add an addition to the house now...only seasonal though. :-)
John, that sounds crazy brother, living in SC. we don't see that kind of snow. Hell if they call for an inch or two here, you would think it was the end of time! Good Luck and be safe out there!
Ya this storm sucks. Lets see, engine got stuck on a way to a possible structure fire, luckily it was a false alarm, tanker almost got stuck pulling the engine out. Powerlines down all over, countless trees across the road... gotta love winter dont ya. Nice thing is the engine was about a foot away from going into the ditch, so we did get lucky on that
Well, so far here in NY we have had transformer explosions and a number of MVA's some with rollover.....I have been out plowing ever since getting released from the last call....inside to eat get some dry clothes and then back out at it again......I hate winter.....LOL

Yoi, it's been a really wacky past 12 hours of weather here in western PA. This storm system has brought freezing rain and sleet last night, then warmer temps in the low 50s today, with high winds(gusts up to 55mph), thunder, lightning, hail, rain, sun, rainbows(no kidding) and I'm surprised we weren't issued a tornado warning a little bit ago, it was really freaky and ominous outside. Temps are currently dropping fast and it's expected to start changing over to snow by early evening. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone, what a weird day of weather here. I'm just waiting for kitchen sinks and puppies to start falling from the sky.
By the way, who's Allison? I prefer to call her the November Witch, but she's a little late this year.

Don't tell me we are the only state to name the snowstorms!?!
Seriously, that is the name of the storm, if it is supposed to be a significant snowstorm and expected to drop xx inches, it gets a name. First storm of the season here so it is named Allison, next one will start with a "B" and so forth.
Yes John you are the only state I know of that names snowstorms lol. Kind of a neat idea though. We got somewhere around 6" here hard to tell with the bad drifting which suprises me since it is a wet snow.
Allison sounds like a snow hurricane. Heavy snow, ice and strong winds, sounds deadly. I hope the best for everyone in its path. Can you name the next storm Billy, if so, I know it would be much more gentle. TCSS
I'll take some of that snow! It has been sub-zero here and to cold to snow. We don't even have a skiff of snow. I'm doing the snow dance every night...eventually we'll get something.
Good thing for the heads up about the roof Dottie....had to do that, shovel the patio, clear away plow slop, before coming back on here. That roof snow seems much heavier to clear, but what a good practice for overhaul.
