does anyone see a problem with taking pictures?

does anyone see a problem with taking pictures at a scene if it only involves taking pictures of yourself and other crew members? recently i have taken alot of heat for taking some pictures of myself and some other crew members and a couple of a home that was vacant that was on fire. i had no pictures of victims and or any possible evidence that may interfear with a possible arson investigation. tell me what you think.

what i mean by rehab is we were done with the fire and just hanging out for a minute before we pack stuff up and go 98.

Did you violate any department policy/sop/sog regarding fireground photography. If you didn't, then you shouldn't have been given any grief at all. If your department doesn't have a policy, they should. What that policy is is up to your departmant.

Photos at incidents arent meant to have you or anyone else posing in it they are meant to be of the emergency itself at its finest in a picture perfect shot that stands out but at the same time prevents you from getting your backside kicked kicked later on if they are posted

Everytime i go to an emergency call im always sure to grab the camera before flying out the door and during the incident itself while im not doing anything or stuck on pump operator duties i find a part of the incident that stands out which also is within the incident photography guidelines and snap this pic for others to look at later

This pic below i took during March 2008 and it demonstrates my point here about pics that are photo perfect but also dont get your backside kicked

for training purposes I see no problem.

for momentos...or to show off the big one you were on...not so much.

If you end up in a media photo...well that costs a bucket of ice cream

I dont see a problem, but like you said , no victs,or anything for investigation,no problem ! But how do the crew feel about you taking picts of them ? If you were to ask first maybe ,just maybe they wont mind either . always remember it dont hurt to ask, then shoot away .I dont like my pict. taken but its all good for the memorries also . So if you look at myprofile you will see many picts for now . TC HG W ,brother .
