A wildfire is burning amid hot and dry conditions Tuesday in the Moorpark area.
The fast-moving blaze originated near the 126 Freeway, just east of Fillmore and is burning toward Moorpark.
The Guiberson Fire started at about 10:30 a.m. By Tuesday afternoon.
Officials believe the fire started through "manure spontaneous combustion from a local ranch," the Los Angeles Times reported:
Officials did not disclose exactly where the fire started or how. But spontaneous manure fires are fairly common in farm communities, often occurring during conditions of extreme heat. Temperatures around where today's fire started near Fillmore topped 100 degrees, with wind gusts topping 50 mph.
Aerial firefighting units and more than 400 firefighters were dispatched to the area. Eight fixed-wing tankers and four helicopters are making drops on the wind-driven blaze.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Moorpark is about 45 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The fire is sending thick black smoke over Moorpark.
