On 5/16/2010 at approximately 1700 hours Station 22 was dispatched for mutual aid to Beryl, Wv on a vehicle. Engine 221 responded with 6 volunteers and D/C Kight. An older model camper truck was pulling a trailer with a couple ATVs. The vehicles rear tire caught fire due to rubbing on the wheel wells. The driver was able to uncouple the trailer from the camper truck and pull the vehicle away from the trailer before the fire got too much for him to stay in the camper. Engine 24-11 arrived on the scene and advised of a fully involved camper truck. 24's crew pulled a bumper attack line to knock the fire down. The 22 crew arrived and assisted the attack crew with opening up the camper to allow the fire attack crews to put the fire out. The camper was completely destroyed however the trailer and the ATVs were not damaged. Units on the scene were Engine 24, Engine 361, Engine 221, Tanker 22, and EMS 50. On 4/19/10 at approximately 2155 hours, the southside crews were dispatched for a working house fire on West Hampshire St Piedmont, WV (24's 1st Due). Units dispatched on the late evening fire were Station 24, 22, ET 19, Engine 361, Squad 23, and EMS 50. The upgrade to the residential box, brought ER 19, Truck 33, Air Light 38. ET 22 responded with 6 volunteers and D/C Kight. ET 22 arrived on the scene to find a working house fire with fire showing from a third floor window on the Bravo side on the house. All occupants were out of the house. The crew from ET 22 pulled an 1 3/4" 250' attack line and advanced the line to the third floor. The ET had their own hydrant on the corner however the hydrant was out of service. Additional supply was hand jacked to a hydrant on the West Fairview St. Engine 221 responded with 6 volunteers and was second to arrive on the scene and backed up the crew on the Engine Tanker on fire attack. The crew from the Engine Tanker made an aggressive attack on the fire with a quick knockdown. The fire was located on the third floor of the house. Truck 24's crew came to the third floor and assisted with overhaul and ventilation. Chief 24 Jackson assumed the Hampshire St Command. Squad 22 also responded with 4 volunteers. Truck 33 was able to ladder the building on Side Bravo to the fire floor. Positive Pressure Fan was used to ventilate the house during the overhaul operations. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
