Smithfield VFD hosted their 6th annual Truck Operations Class on April 20th thru 22nd.

We would like to take a moment to thank the following organizations that helped to make the 2017 6th Annual Truck Company Operations Class a success:

- Isle Of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad ( Station 60) for providing a medic and a standby crew.
- Virginia Beach Fire Department for allowing us to use their training facility on Sunday.
- Blue Ridge Rescue Suppliers for being a sponsor and providing equipment for the class.
- Real Fire Training for being a sponsor and providing instructors for the class.
- STIHL for being a sponsor and providing equipment for the class.
- The ladies auxiliary for doing the lunches for the students and Instructors.

John Burress ( Charlottesville Fire Department) and Chris Smith ( DCFD Fire Department) for coming down and sharing their knowledge and experience with the class. We look forward to having these guys back next year.

Most importantly, we sincerely appreciate those individuals that chose to spend their free time with us over the course of the weekend. It was a lot of fun for us to meet new people that share the same passion for the fire service. You will ALWAYS be welcomed here at " THE 50 HOUSE".

F-20 on scene smoke showing from a 2.5 story dwelling on 2nd floor #4 side. Engine 23 makes entry from side door and has heavy fire on 1st floor rear. B-47 updates with heavy fire on #1 side 1st floor with auto extension to 2nd floor. Crews are pulled out of building and off roof for Defensive attack. Truck 7 sets up for Master stream operations. Fire extends up #1 side wall into 2nd floor and attic. Truck 14 member is hurt and FAST team attends. B-56 Requests extra Truck for FAST and 2 Pumpers for Relief.

Truck 6 on scene 2 story dwelling fire #4 side. Engine 21 crews make entry from front door and exterior lines working. Truck 14 ventilates roof. Rescue 1 doing primary search - negative results. B-43 reports fire on exterior and interior. Fire extends up to 2nd floor. Truck 6 overhauls soffit and roof area. Gas can found in 3-4 corner.

Depew FD Working Attic Fire - 259 Calumet st

Depew FD alerted for a fire in a dwelling. Patrol on scene with smoke showing. Depew 9 on scene with a fire in the attic. Engine 3 crews deploy handlines to the attic and knock down fire. Fire extends into stepdown and rear wall of house. Crews ventilate roof and check for extension in stepdown. Fire contained to attic area of origin with no further extension. Lancaster village Engine crew requested to scene.
3 -1¾" lines in use

Depew: Engines: 1, 2, 3, 4, Ladder 5, Rescue 7
Lancaster Engine: 2; South Line RIT: Truck 6 & Rescue 7
Lancaster Village, Hy-View & Bowmansville backfilled.
Damages: $ 80K

Buffalo FD 1 Alarm FATAL - 45 Kermit pl

Engine 31 on scene 2.5 story dwelling with fire on 1st first floor and someone still inside. 31 Crew make entry from front door and has fire in the rear. Primary searches were negative. Crews check for extension on 2nd floor and attic - Rescue 1 reports fire in attic - Engine 23 brings line up. Truck 7 ventilates roof. Rescue 1 does Secondary search on 1st floor and finds a victim in the kitchen. CPR in progress on scene and victim was pronounced at local Hospital.
