About Me:
I ride my local BLS unit approximately 48 hours per month on an average of 130 calls per year and I'll start EMT-I training in late 2008. I'm a recruiter and drill instructor for my VFD and pinch-hit at an adjacent volunteer rescue squad with ALS capacities. I also teach CPR and the first aid/injury prevention component of a babysitter certification course. I work at the EMS base station at Children's Hospital in D.C., taking initial reports from inbound air and ground EMS units and dispatching the hospital's own units on interhospital transfers.

Do you remember exactly when you decided to become an emergency responder? For me, it’s easy; September 12, 2001. After September 11, I didn’t want to feel useless the next time people needed help. I was a full-time freelance writer, working at a client’s office in downtown D.C., when the planes hit; everything closed for the day, and on the way home, I could see the smoke from the Pentagon. I got my EMT card in July 2002.

Hi brother I am from IA same troubles here in recruitment I am also an Instructor for CPR 1st Aid and Fire Fighting. I begin my EMT-B in May somewhat excited. My cousin was a EMT in the DC area as well she gave it just recently not sure why. Stay in touch and Be Safe!
