Hi Karen. Kudos for your service and dedication to your community and our international fire family. Your loyalty to remembering those lost and your advocacy to learn from and prevention through safety and training is admirable. Please let me know how my region and network may be of assistance. -Roger

Hello All:

My condolences to the families of the two firefighters--one Captain and one Rookie, who was lost in the early morning Easter housefire in Houston. This is always heavy hearted news on a day when we remember life in new and precious ways...and life hereafter. May all be safe out there, and treasure each day of breath we have! And, of by the way...we were sometimes wondering if it was right to have prayer in the Firehouse??--Karen Lee and Friends

As we know the angels above have gained another angel into the ranks, and you have suffered heavy hearts with the loss of your daughter, I hope we as a service have gained greater wisdom to assure this loss never happens again...

Hey there...it's the 7th anniversary of the Thirtymile Fire today! Wow, what an episode. I hope all fire Fire-bosses and firefighters are learning greater safety measures by now!
My aunt Peggy and Uncle Dan and the kids had to evacuate froim their house on Dean Rd in Paradise, CA. as the fired around there were so bad. They were told on Monday that they didn't know if they could get them much help because of where they were at..they were on their ownj.
After sending SOS e-mails to a bunch of you firefighters in No. California to see if you could check on them, or help out...Tuesday, three fire trucks with staff showed up, sprayed fire retardant around their property and saved their house! Yeah! Good job all your great guys and gals!!--Karen Lee

Here is the lastest on the Canyon Complex (Plumas National Forest): 23,159 acres at 57 percent contained. This complex of eight fires is 16 miles northeast of Paradise. Residences and archeological sites are threatened. Highway 70 is closed. Hope this helps

hello if you go on CAlfire.com you should be able to find out about thta area of California or type in "active fires in california" on the search bar it has been pretty reliable the last Iheard about that area was that the winds shifted and theyhadto evacuate ASAP the weather is in triple digit and the winds are up 70 + I am in the san diego area really far away from the fires and we have smoke in our area pretty thick the fires are a couple hundred miles away from where Iive i am in the other Alpine near the southern tip of cali about 60 miles from the Mexico Border

Dear Tom...thanks for remembering. This summer, National Georgraphic Films will begin filming the 2nd movie rendition of "Fire On The Mountain," about the Storm King Fire. It should be out in about one year. Over the next few months planning and negotiations will develop to plan the "Thirtymile Fire" to come out as a movie sometime after that. The exact movie company is yet to be determined as talks continue. As the movie companies bring our stories to life, it is the hope of all who participate to bring more awareness of past mistakes and greater safety to all wildland firefighters in the future.--Karen Lee FitzPatrick, "Angel Promises," and "Thirtymile Fire."
