IMO on spots stink. They tend to get hung up if you do not maintain them regularly. Then there is the we will just creep and make it theory... not going fast enough to engage or throw the little chains underneath the tire. If you engage the brakes and start to slide, it is the worst thing to do when you are sliding out of control, letting off the brakes and re-applying throttle makes no sense but the on-spots might begin to gain traction. We chain all our trucks even though they have on-spots, ours are from BB Chain and we use P-Wag which is the strongest around and can be run on dry pavement if needed for the specific areas that get little road maintenance but other roads traveled before are regularly maintained.
