I was just sitting at home just now and had a thought and not the first time I have had this thought. I and all of us on here have the greatest job ever. At least for me it is, even on bad calls, as long as we do our utmost best, we can say we did do a good job, even though we will always second guess ourselves on what we did, I think that is what motivates us to want to be better at our job, to want to learn more and to practice an train more, so we can always be at the top of our game. Never have I had such a job that when I am on the Engine or walking around town off duty (if there is such a thing as off duty) that I am so proud of what I do. When I worked in the auto repair field the only feeling of accomplishment I had was when I fixed a problem child car and I knew it was right was the only time, and thena week or so later the car may hick-up or something, and they would bring it back. The Manager would act as if we had just ripped this cutomer off and would have us fix his car again for no charge, even when it wasn't the same problem he had before. I noticed this at all repair shops that I worked at, that and them wanting us to find other things to try and sell to them, made me feel like a crook at times. But now being a Firefighter and an EMT I have this sense of overwhelming joy everytime I work , go on calls or walk around town, just knowing that I may have made a difference to somebody, made them feel better. This is the Greatest Job Ever, and I sure wish I could have been in this field along time ago.
