Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...February 26, 2009
Here it is almost a month after I took the state test for Firefighter 1 for the second time. I heard I have to wait about 2 more weeks to get my results. I sometimes forget about that, I've been doing this for a year and a half now. I like to volunteer, and last night was the recording secretary for the officers' meeting, and am on our 100th anniversary committee.
Tonight I went to an OEM meeting. I joined the organization a few weeks ago. Some people are saying I'm crazy. But you know it's interesting to see how the OEM kind of branches off the fire service. Tonight we spoke about communications and a recent call that we were called for and then cancelled. Since my fire station wasn't called, it wouldn't have been a conflict. I would be helping in a different capacity.
I am going to the Parade. I'm not a parade person with the crowds of people and traffic, and I usually let my husband take the kids. I'll be sitting in the trailer. It will be really interesting being on the other side this time.
Oh and I saw my daughter today. It wasn't so hard today seeing the handcuffs, but it was hard seeing the people at the doctor's office reaction to them. And being a Mom, I brought her oatmeal cookies.
Wish I had time to get my ashes today. Gave up excessive texting for Lent. Thank you for reading, Denise
