Our village is located in Paulding County Ohio. We have applied for our FDI number from the state. I have to call them in the morning. They had a couple of questions to complete.
We looked at different ways for funding and decided to combine our police and fire as well as EMT certification to create a Department of Public Safety. As a member you must be cross trained in at least two fields. We will not operate a EMS .squad from our facility However we do want initial response and capabilities to assist other surrounding departments.
Our village is currently under fiscal emergency by the State of Ohio Auditors office.
Anything we do is going to have to be from a non-matching grant, donation, or fund raising.
Once we are operational I believe we can charge for some services as well as make a little extra delivering water to customers for a fee.
Any help would be appreciated. Our department can arrange for travel, if that is what is needed.
I am the acting Chief of Police and a Firefighter
I also have to challenge National Registry to regain my active status as a EMT-I

I am the Chair Person for our Fundraising Committee. I have come up with a few ideas that our department is hoping to try this year. One is for a cookbook, with the economy the way it is, most people in my area are staying home for dinner and not eating out as much. I assume your area may be the same. If I am right, many people look for different ways to "spice" up the things that they eat most often so they don't get bored.

Another idea I have thrown around is for a "Male Beauty Pageant". Of course with this idea, the guys have to have a good sense of humor. LOL You could do it in conjunction with a dinner or auction. Also, think about asking local businesses to sponsor plaques or trophies for a car/bike show.

I hope you can put these ideas to good use, if you do decide to use any of them, I just ask that you keep me informed on how things go. I wish you the best of luck!!! Be careful and stay safe!
