My daughter came to me about a year ago and told me she had written a poem. To my amazement she had not put it on paper; she had made up this poem in her head and had said it so… Continue

This is a story I just happened to come across on a newspaper's website. I have always been a very patriotic person and take pride in serving my community as a vol. firefighter, but this brought tears to my eyes. Here is the link: http://www.wvgazette.com/News/201003121071
I am sure this story will be made into a movie someday!

First, I want to thank all my fellow firefighter brothers & sisters for always being here to help me when I have asked for it...& now I ask for your help again. My department needs an oath to administer to our firefighters and fire line officers. I also have a question, do departments that have Administrative/Auxiliary members administer the same oath to those members as they do to their firefighters or is it worded different?
Thank you all so much for your time, it is… Continue

I know this may sound trivial but my department needs to implement an Auxiliary membership status. I am at a loss for how to write it into our Constitution. Is there anyone that could help me? That is the only section that I need right now. I would be extremely grateful for any help my FFN family provides me!!! Thanks so much in advance, be careful and stay safe!!!~Tammy~

Terminally Ill WV Fire Chief Passes
SOPHIA, WV -- Colleagues say firefighting was the love of Louis Dale "Sonny" Farthing's life.
Now, they plan to give him a firefighter's -- and a hero's -- farewell.
Farthing, the 61-year-old chief of the Sophia City Volunteer Fire Department, died at a hospice house early Thursday morning (6-11-09), said his successor, Jeff Pittman. Farthing endured multiple cancers that included leukemia.
Farthing was a Sophia native… Continue

I have seen little 5 question surveys on other networking sites that will tell you which piece of equipment best describes or represents you. I have taken a couple of them and they all pretty much say the same thing, just with a little different wording. So, I wanted to know how each of you would describe YOURSELF, in terms of equipment?

Wow! What a response to my first blog post! Thanks everyone! I am really liking this site, all my new friends and fire family from around the world!
I know I am not the only one that turns to my computer in the evening to wind down and relax before going to sleep, so I wanted to ask everyone a question.....just for fun.
How do you wind down and relax? Don't hold back, this could be interesting and another way for us all to have a little fun and get to know each… Continue

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read my blog. My name is Tammy and I am in charge of fundraising for the Bakerton Fire Department in Bakerton, West Virginia, USA. I am interested in hearing what suggestions all my new friends here at FirefighterNation can give me on fundraising ideas.
I have already brought up a few ideas to our membership over the past year, but now I would like to get a little more adventurous. We have a few items that we would like to purchase for… Continue
