Staffing cuts and budget freezes are hitting fire departments across the country. From Scranton to Wilkes-Barre to budget cuts in California the penny pinchers are having an adverse effect on the safety of firefighters.

Don't worry though. As soon as someone needs a firefighter they are quick to praise. Just don't ask for anything because they develop amnesia.

So Far So Good...

So far my probationary period in my fire company should be coming to a close, and i will be coming a fully operational firefighter. so far its been an experience and a half..I'm loving every minute of it. My fellow firemen are treating me fair..Sometimes i just want to know how they feel about a female firefighter..I know there is at least 1 or 2 who probably have an issue with it. But you know what..Im not gonna let it bring me down..Not anymore. Anyways enough of my ramblings..

Halloween

Another Halloween has past, I did not hear of any children getting hurt in our County. That is something to be very Thankful for. I went to Pinewood with my boyfriend Dewey, he is a Lt at Pinewood Station 2. They gave out candy to trick or treaters on Main Street. They started with 100 bags and left empty handed. That is a very good turn out. The children dressed in there best costumes seemed to be having a very good time. Everyone seemed happy. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed myself.… Continue

We are all capable of greatness, capable of achieving our goals, capable of establishing ourselves as an individual. We are all created equally before God and placed on this earth for a very short period of time. We all need to take that time to separate… Continue

Tioga Co. 911

Mark Northrup's best side.

I grabbed this list of odd 911 calls from Fire Engineering based on my county finally going to an enhanced 911 system. This will help solve the problems that I have previously addressed. You think we get no respect? What about these men and woman that are locked up in some out of the way place that we expect to peak efficiency from even when we are less…

Dear Dispatchers/Calltakers,

Good Day all, we love you and the job you do! I have been seated in your chair and I understand, however.....

This morning I was tyring to give patient info and RESPONDER SAFETY and "YOU" wanted to hang up. Well, it was important that they knew
