COAL WAS WEALTH: Size-up basics you need to know

FireRescue magazine's Fireground Operations column

COAL WAS WEALTH: The basics of size-up, part 1

By Freddie LaFemina

Whether I was checking the apparatus prior to a tour, checking tools or responding to an incident, I’d always perform a mini size-up in my head. Using any information available, such as dispatch information, prior fires or fire prevention inspection… Continue

Misted placed TX Firefighter

The other day I was talking to my wife on the phone and she told me she was waching The Unit and they had a morter attice on it, and she couldnt under stand why I was mad about it. Well it comes down to this, the less she knows about what happens here the better off she will be. Just like in the fire service there are just some things you dont tell your wife or husband. It isnt so much that you are hiding something from them, it come down to there are just some things we cant tell them. I mean… Continue

Responses to Cadet/Explorers Posts

I don't know if anyone else out there besides the cadets and explorers feel the same way, but I am getting tired of reading responses to cadets and explorers posts that are seemingly attacking these young FFN members. I don't care if you disagree with them or not. Just don't attack them. You don't aggressively attack other members with lots of experience who make stupid posts nearly as much as you do the younger ones. I believe you all are just picking weak targets. Would you talk to your…

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...February 20, 2010 (what day is it? LOL)

Expectations/ financial

Let me start with something basic, expectation; even more basic, financial expectations. It is said that of all divorces about 90% of them are due to some type of financial reason. I would tend to agree with this, but what is that fiscal reasoning. I believe that it may be the lack of communication of fiscal expectation.…

Your personal relationship?

I have been contemplating for a few weeks about starting a regular blog on this site. I thought that it would be relatively easy to do, just start typing about something and make it interesting.
