I am 32 years old, Have been in fire dept for 14 years, I have just become the first female officer in my dept. I am now 3rd Assistant Fire Chief. I have one son, He is my life, then after that comes the Fire Dept.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I was raised in it!! My father joined the year I was born, he's been a member for 31 years, he currently holds the chiefs position that he had held for many years

Why I Love Fire/EMS

The rush!! and being there in people's time of need

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Not enough money for smaller depts to be able to purchase things that are required now! Also not enough time for all the classes that have to be taken to even be able to participate w the fire dept, Plus I'm a female so that is pretty tough, my dept is great but I'm the only girl in the dept, but u have to gain other depts respect as a woman!
