I have been interested in the fire service since I was a very young child. My dad has been in the fire service for all of my life. My mother joined when I was 17 years old so that she could spend time with me. I have a passion to help people. The fire service is my second family.
It is in my blood. My father is a life member at Bladensburg VFD. and I grew up at the firhouse. I guess it runs pretty deep in me. I am the first female out of my family to join the fire service. I also am a life member.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love giving back to the community that I grew up in. I also want to follow in father's foot steps.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Dealing with the political crap of everyday. It is kind of sad to see the way the fire service has changed over the years. It is not a family now. You get all of these new members that come in and have no respect or pride. All they think about is how volunteering will look on their next job application.
