About Me:
Frankford township fire department is a 50 member department in upstate NEw Jersey. WE have two section of the department. We have the Fire, and Rescue (EMS and extrication). We are all volunteer. The town does not "own" us, we work for everything we have and the town doesn't help us in any way. We are a totally private identity of the town.

This department was established in 1948. Since then we went from having one firehouse to have two, and starting the rescue/EMS divsion. The Rescue/EMS division is only about 6 or 7 years old. In the rescue division we train in Extrication, wilderness evacuation, rope rescue, ice rescue, swift water rescue, abandoned mine and cave rexscue, confined space rescue and other stuff i just don't remember.

Right now our fire department is in the middle of saving money, making time, and receiving support to build a much needed new fire house to replace our first fire house. We have many plans, but in order to do so we need the support from the town to help us. We do as many fundraisers as we possibly can a year to make the needed money for this project. All we have done so far is buy the property. We are meeting with architects to create the building, and thats about it so far. The most in the building stage we have gotten done is the curb cut. I know its not much, but we all know that these things take A LOT of time. A fire house isn't built overnight.
Day Job:
Secretary for a forklift repair company

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I grew up in the fire house with my dad. I have loved it since i was three years old when he joined the department. When my father became the chief, i decided it was time to join, i was the minimum age of 14 and really wanted to do it. Then i was told by my father to wait until i was 18 to join. Talk about making me feel so unwanted in the fire house or whatever. So there i was 14 years old and told that i have to wait another 4 years... AGAIN. So i turned 18 and put my application in with the department. I was voted in at the monthly meeting and now i am a full blow, fully qualified firefighter.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I just love the feeling when i get home from a call. I love getting the pat on the back with the "good job" at the end of the day.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Discrimination against female firefighters. Lack of interest in something that is volunteer, everyone wants to be paid, but up by me, its hard just because were not a rich city, were a little 48 square mile country town.

Plane Crash 7/22/07

Posted on August 31, 2007 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

Around 0900 on the morning of 7/22/07, Branchville and Frankford Fire Dept's were assigned to a plane crash on Phillips Road in Frankford. I was just getting home from breakfast with my boyfriend when this call went out. I quickly jumped back into my truck and responede to the fire house. I was in the 3rd truck in. My truck was told to stand by down the road about 200 yards from the accident. As we stood by, we herd my assistant Chief 671 (M. Seo) call our dispatch for the number for the AAA or… Continue

Around 0700 hrs on the morning of 7/21/07 the Branchville and Frankford Fire Departments were assigned to the report of a possible structure fire in the Culver Lakes section of Frankford. I was on Engine 1 with my father. While enroute, my LT. 674 (M. Dann) arrived on scene with and address of 166 Lower North Shore Rd. and to confirm a working house fire. When that was herd, my father (the driver) put the pedal to the medal. We arrived on scene to see nothing but flames. My father and his…

Finally got a good call this weekend. It was not on the airprot, but I got called out with the regional Hazmat team I on. There was a tanke rollover on Vail Pass. We went inand had to off load 5,000 gal of fuel. The call took over 11 hours, because of how bad the tanker was crushed and the fact that it was about 200 ft down over the hill. I think I used about 5 SCBA bottles. I was totally spent at the end of the call, but it was fun. How's thing going for you?

Check out the some of the Groups, I have started up "Close Calls" an area to tell your story of what you did and should not of so others learn. "Roll Calls" this is another group that allows you to tell us about your station and district. "Trainers Corner" is another area that you can read about issues other trainers have or deal with. As well if your not a trainer you can ask questions or state concerns you have. If you have a hard time locating them just go to my site and look at the bottom left hand corner.

Enjoy, be safe and remember we all come home.

Ouch! Tuff to get beauty sleep when your out on a call at 0230. Being at the airport now, I miss getting MVA calls. Haven't run on one in a few years, other than the fuel tanker that rolled here this past winter. A big mess, with 800 gal of Jet A fuel all over the ramp, under several aircraft. And it was -15 F.
