Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Although I went the physician route rather than the EMS route, my passage into emergency medicine came about as a result of... you guessed it... the Emergency TV show! I did my first CPR as a pre-med student on a paramedic friend's ambulance and started my first IV on a Fire-Rescue truck in Miami as a first year med student. Since then I've worked with EMSers to help them learn to enjoy and feel confident in the aspect of medicine I'm most passionate about -- taking care of children. My passion for EMS and the people providing it is second only to that dedication to kids. I've learned so much about medicine and about life from my EMS brothers and sisters! The privilege of belonging to the Fire and EMS family is sacred to me. Looking out for the welfare and gratification of those family members is an honor I hope to continue pursuing for the rest of my professional life.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love the challenge of working in uncontrolled environments. I love the people of Fire/EMS because they pull together and support each other. If you're a member of the Family, they've always got your back!

Welcome fan of "Emergency", makes you wonder just how many of us got the bug from the show? Thanks for being a doc dedicated to EMS, we need you and appreciate your involvement. One of my early mentors came from the Miami-Dade area, Dr Michael Torres.
