I'V WORKED FOR THE EMS FDNY FOR 5 YEARS AND LOVE IT. I STARTED HAS A FIRE CADET WENT THROUGH ALL THE TRAINGING TO BECOME A FIREFIGHTER PAST THE EXAM AND THAT HARD AS ALL H.E.L.L PHYSICAL. WHEN I SAT IN FRONT OF MY RECRUITER I DIDN'T WANT IT I DIDN'T FEEL BEING A FIREFIGHTER IN MY HEART SO I TURNED IT DOWN. WENT AND APPLIED FOR THE EMS SIDE AND NEVER LOOKED BACK
I LOVE SAVING LIVES AND BRING LIFE INTO THIS WORLD IF I DIDN'T LOVE PEOPLE I WOULD HAVE LEFT A LONG TIME AGO BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO LIVE IN THIS CITY ON THIS SALARY I ALSO LOVE BEING IN CHARGE. I AM MY OWN BOSS
Why I Love Fire/EMS
MY CO- WORKERS ARE THE BEST. I HAVE SOME OF THE BEST PEOLPE THAT I CALL FAMILY WORKING WITH ME.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
THE TOP ISSUES FACING THE FDNYEMS IS THAT FOR WHAT WE DO WE ARE EXTREMLY UNDER PAID AND APPERCIATED BY BOTH THE HEADS OF THE DEPARTMENT AND THE PUBLIC. WE SAVE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. BUT UNFORTUNATELY I AM GOING TO HAVE TO LEAVE THIS JOB. THERE'S NO MONEY IN THIS JOB AND I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE WORKING FOR THE CITY YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LIVE ANY WHERE IN THAT CITY AND WORKING HERE YOU WILL BE HOMELESS. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS JOB FOR THAT REASON......SORRY WE HAVE FAMLIES TOO AND NEED TO LIVE
Come to NC plenty of jobs, and the cost of living is alot lower. Iam from NY Long Island that is, I am very close to one of your communications officers, we are in the same fire department up there.
