I'm not a Firefighter or EMS, but I am someone who loves helping people in need.
I came upon a bad vehicle accident on a back country road. No bodie's cell ph. would come in because it was up in a rural mountainous area. Someone finally got to a phone and called for help.
The van was turned on it's side, and the engine was on fire. I just knew we had to get the people out, because I was afraid the van would blow up with the people inside. They were too hurt to climb out. My brother didn't want me to get near the van, but I told him, we can't let them die. If we had waited till the Rescue Squad got there it may have been too late. So my brother finally decided to help me, and we got the people out.
It wasn't about trying to be a hero, it was the fear for another person's life, that made me want to help them. I also was able to witness to the people, that God kept them alive, and from dying in the wreck. I was very thankful God gave me the strength to help them.
The Rescue team finally got there, and the fire truck came and got the fire out before it could blow up.
So I guess you can say I have a small part in helping to rescue persons, and I've also put a few of my own kitchen fires out too. LOL
