Once my husband became completely absorbed with EMS I knew the only way I'd ever get to see him was if I became an EMT myself. I begged my friend to take the class with me and somehow we made it though. Of course, by the time we were released to AIC, my other half had gotten his Intermediate and insisted I get my EVOC if I ever intended on running with him. The rest so they say is history. Now we both are running all the time and stop in to visit the kids every now and then. I don't think any of us would have it any other way.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
My Mom's a nurse and my husband is a Firefighter/Medic...plus I love to help people...basically, I was dragged in kicking and screaming. :-)
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Number 1, providers who have callused to their patients. Don't know if this happens everywhere (and I'm still fairly new to the game), but in our area I notice a lot of providers who provide not substandard, but definitely "harsh" treatment. I've never understood that, especially on the volunteer side since we are there because we WANT to be...right?
