I wanted to give back to my community. I figured joining the Volunteer Fire Dept. and First Responder would be the perfect way. Firefighting is such a rush, like you all know I'm sure... and helping people on the responders is such a fullfilling feeling.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Helping people... plane and simple... and the sweet uniforms!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Money and manpower in a volunteer setting... not enough of it in small towns to keep it going and up to date. We used to have 2 ambulance vehicles and a full team for each. We have since downgraded to first responders and only 1 vehicle. The fire dept. just filled it's last spot, the first time we've had a full roster in at least 2 yrs. Our dept. depends on local gambling, donations, grants, and various fire dept. sponsered activities to purchase new equipt.
Not much at all I guess. I have about a foot behind the rig in my station. You know when a driver backs in to far. They have bent the ladder rake twice. What type of engine is that and what year. By the pic and tale board looks like a truck from the maybe 70's
I know that I was wearing them. I get a head ache from them and being the officer you have to wear them or your guys say the Captain doesn't so I must not have to. I have ordered all my guys new glasses this year.
