Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I grew up around Law Enofrcement all my life. My family wasn't in LE but I had friends that were. I heard some of the stories my friends talked about and I became interested in LE. I became interested in Fire Fighting was back in 2000, when I was driving home from work and a huge motorhome blew out a tire and struck a car, on the passenger side. We pulled over and assisted in the accident. I spoke with a firefighter that was a volunteer and he explained what he did and it struck a huge interest. I have only been in the fire service for 3 yrs now and I am looking at giving up 15 yrs of LE to pursue a career in Fire Fighting.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get to help and meet new people
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Money. The smaller volunteer dept's don't have any money for any training or descent equipment. Money affects all departments big or small, but small depts beg, borrow or steal just to get by.
