Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I like the atmosphere and the idea of helping someone on their worst day. Along with that, I am very desensitized and will face challenges/injuries with logic rather than emotion. My unusual draw to morbid things gives me a unique skill set and medical knowledge.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The bond the crew shares with each other is a bond that can only be found there, and the bravery of those who run into danger to help others get away is unmatched.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
There is a high stigma in considering needing mental health "weak" after bad calls or just in general. The job is also far more demanding in all ways, not just physical. The long hours and day-to-day danger also makes this job difficult.
