About Me:
I am addicted to good coffee, good conversation, and commonsense practices in all things. Philosophically I am a pragmatist.
I am married to a police officer who will be retiring in 2009 (maybe) after 28+ years with a major metropolitan police department and she is the center of my universe. And recently she got me hooked on digital photography. I now have a Nikon D90 and a Flickr account...I may never be the same.
Relationship Status:

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I grew up on the Great Lakes of Michigan, in the tip-of-the-mitt area. Our area was rural and medical response times were often delayed by weather/nature/bad roads etc. My parents taught self-reliance and commonsense practices for all emergencies. EMS and SAR just seemed like natural behavior to me so I became an EMT for the first time in 1974 as a teenager. Now it's just part of my life, like breathing.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Funding and the seeming inability of most city/state/federal managers to respond to departmental needs (manpower and equipment) BEFORE a crisis rather than in knee-jerk, poorly planned responses AFTER one.
hopefully i get accepted to the medic program with pete in charge of it i nw it'll b fun. 3-4 ppl from our basic class are takingit so it'll be like the good ol days. minues a pat. MEmber chicks dig scarrs. its gettin hot dam i like the cold.
