Why I Joined Fire/EMS
In 1979 I started workiing for the U.S. Forest Service as a wild land firefighter. In 1991 the structure guys talked me into coming and checking out the Brookings Fire Dept. while we were at a school fire prevention program, and I've been here ever since. I volunteered for 15 years and was hired full time on 9/11/2006. We were assisting the local ambulance company when I started with the dept. so I went to school to become an EMT.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I enjoy helping and still like the adrenaline rush.
