Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I enjoy the healthcare field and cannot imagine myself being confined in a hospital setting or something similar. I love street medicine ... the fast pace and excitement and being the first on scene in an emergency situation.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love to help those in need and I have to admit it - I love the adrenaline rush (and the air horn)!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The large elderly population that is growing every day and the idea that people have little knowledge regarding the nature of a true emergency and when it is appropriate the call 911 for help. The system is being bogged down and overwhelmed by non-emergency calls, which is making it difficult for emergency services to maintain adequate emergency coverage (spoken like a true Floridian).
