First joined CFA 1985 and still going strong had a short spell between 89 to 95 with a shift of work etc. Always been a voulenteer type person who enjoys helping others and a good team enviroment.
My Training:
After a while and plenty of training on offer you can rack up a few qualifications. Which all being well should mean you get the job done well in theory then in practise when needed ? But for the record I am a Deputy Group Officer , 1 st lt in my local brigade crew leader who is also strike team leader when required and B/A search & recue operator with lot of other bits and pieces under these. But remember it's not the bits of paper that make you a good Fireman.
Day Job:
self employed
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Love Fire/EMS
team working for the good of all it comes across
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Doing our job in a quick efficient and safe maner to the satisfaction of all. Knowing full well that every real job you do could involve a lot of missery for them the caller and a little bit of there misery for you the responder. There lies the challenge.

Sorry most of the current fires are a ways away from my area. My dept. is alocal volley outfit out in the country so no help out of my area heading that way. Hows things out your way? I've been on injured list for a month now. had to get right elbow surgically pinned back together after injury at my day job in a shipping warehouse, so been laid up a while

Hey Barnard, I hear yah on the small town biz, We are lucky if the local census board counts more than 2000 people in our area. dept only has bout 15 active members, all Volunteers. We live way out in country but do have an express way off ramp to keep us busy.

G'day Barnard - thanks for dropping by. First, I've tried tracing the blog entry you mentioned, no luck! I probably talk too much... As for the groups on here, I tend to stick to the main forum area, it not all threads either - mainly the more serious questions.
Those bloody lights on POV things! If you're allowed the things, why not just ask your 'Chief' what's allowed and what isn't? Why come bleating on a site like this? (rant off)
By groups at home, do you mean things like cfastream? I can't stand that one, stopped going there after seeing that a person isn't allowed to have an opinion without being flamed from all directions. The hatred of the CFA that I saw there was unbelievable - but try saying "if you don't like it get out' and see what happens!
Anyway mate, could you point me to the 'blog by Mike' that I commented on please? Then I'll really be able to answer you.
