Why I Joined Fire/EMS
love the job, love to help people. as a firefighter i heard my name called over the radio. i responded to a call 5 yrs ago to find out my 16 yr old son was killed at the scene by a 19 yr old girl who had been drinking she never got a ticket or charged. after that i got into ems for 4 yrs. it's in the blood.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
helping people in need..
Top Issues Facing Responders:
underpaid, not enough funding. its it me or what? you have baseball players and basketball players making millions to play because they do what they love and their good at it. OK WE LOVE WHAT WE DO AND ALOT OF US DO IT FOR FREE. BUT WE DONT MAKE THE BIG BUCKS PAID OR NOT. ITS WRONG! I DONT RECALL ANY BALL PLAYER RUNNING INTO A BURNING APT. OR HOUSE TO SAVE SOMEONE OR HELP.. MAYBE ITS JUST ME.

thanks for the add...i am so sorry about your child..i remember the night i watched my son being intubated in the back of an ambulance...he was 19, he survived, but i can only imagine how you must have felt that night. but you're right about it being in the blood, as much as i see in the county ER, i never want to do anything else.

Thanks for the add. I'm so sorry about your son. I know it was a few years ago but the feeling of loss never goes away. And you are SO right. We don't get paid what we should. Good thing we do it for love of the job and not the pay!! Stay safe out there!!
