Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Here are just a few of the reasons I became a Firefighter:

*My Grandfather was a volunteer firefighter for more than 40 years on Long Island, New York and we used to visit his fire house often (Rockville Centre Volunteer F.D. and Baldwin Volunteer F.D.'s "Hook 2" - Truck 207).

*My Dad was a volunteer firefighter for 43 years in upstate New York. He passed away suddenly on September 15th 2007. (R.I.P. Dad)

*My Dad used to let me go with him to the fire house every now and then(Yep, I was a firehouse brat!). (Highland Hose Company #1, Highland Fire Prevention District, Highland, NY)

*Fire Chief Joe Valentino, Chief of Highland Hose Company #1 when I was a kid. I really looked up to him because he knew what he was doing and everyone went home after every call! (Highland Hose Company #1, Highland Fire Protection District, Highland, NY)

* I watched Emergency! as a kid.

*I found that I truly enjoyed helping people in need.

*I fought my first fire at the age of 16 with an "Indian Tank" ... I was hooked!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get a great deal of satisfaction from helping people in need. Oh ... and I get to drive really fast with red lights and sirens!!
