My Training:
Qualified with the SES in all general rescue and storm skills, plus operations centre and media training.

Being an old fart I concentrate on media, communications, and operations centre work, and tend to leave the gritty stuff to the young bloods.
About Me:
Retired 3 years ago after a career which included banking, IT, and organising for an industrial union.

I now devote my time to a simple married life, with some emphasis on family and community activites.

After years of thinking about it , my economic philosophy boils down to two three-word sentences - "money is overrated", and, "screw the Jones's".

Politically I am left-of-centre, what my American friends would call a "liberal' - I would say a "bleeding heart liberal", and I wear that badge with pride.

On the religious front my position is one of deep scepticism about all forms of organised religion.

I know the photo is a bit out of date, but I looked good back in 1954, and it's been pretty much downhill ever since.
Day Job:
Retired
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I saw this as a way in which I could use the skills gained over my working life to serve my community.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The value continuing sense that I am using my time in a way which is both manifestly useful and appreciated by the wider community.

Peter, Aye, good beer indeed. That beer is made about 6 hours away in Bend. I am on the far southern Oregon coast right next to the California border. Actually cant go any farther south or west. Yes, lots of trees an green. Great place to live. Never been to Australia but would love to.

If you look at my pictures, you'll see some familiar shots; I spent six weeks in NSW and QLD on a job exchange back in 2002, so I'm familiar with the SES. I loved my time in Australia and the people I met, and wouldn't trade it for a million dollars.
