Why I Joined Fire/EMS: Im currently going to school for my intermediate and want go on to become a paramedic. I start fire sciences in the fall. Im a volunteer with East County Fire and Rescue. I just enlisted in the Oregon National Guard and leave for Ft. Jackson in Sept. When I come home I'm hoping to be full time in three years or less :)
Why I Love Fire/EMS: I want to help people and serve my community.

Wowsers! Thats huge! I have always been pro-military. Was headed for the Marine Corps before I was surprised with daughter #1. I would say first, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it. Sometimes I think that our gut feeling or that little voice we ignore sometimes is God talking to us. My best advice would be to talk to people who have been there done that. I wouldn't recommend a recruiter because they have personal interests vested in you joining. Talk to people who can give you an honest opinion. As for furthering your career there are many routes you can take. I can give you some resources. But I am coming down off of my 48 with 1 hour of sleep. Bleh! Keep in touch. Ask Capt. Long about the little gal then went in the Army after being at District 1. Talk to ya soon!
