Why I Joined Fire/EMS: Became a volunteer for Southwest Fire in Auburn, Al. I then became a paid firefighter for the City of Auburn while working through college.
Why I Love Fire/EMS: It's different every day.
Top Issues Facing Responders:: New firefighters not getting the experience of live burns or the numbers of "real fires". It's hard to reproduce the real thing and the lessons learned from it. That's why we have to work harder to make sure we give them the tools they need to do the job without getting hurt.
