I like helping people. Mostly my involvement has been through my husband. He is the photographer and webmaster for our fire dept. We have become part of a new family and love every one of our brothers and sisters. I am archiving the pictures from the beginning of the dept as a volunteer dept in the early 70's to present on cd at the present time. I'm also a board member for the Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love helping people and I love documenting the lives of those that give so much to help so many.
This was very clever! Soldotna Alaska firefighter melts...
Thanks for the friend request. I have not had much of a chance to get to know anyone from Alaska and all we ever hear about Alaska is through Sarah Pallin satires... I'm sure everyone in Alaska doesn't go out Moose hunting and rides snowmobiles, right?
Looking up the Soldotna Alaska FD, I was surprised to learn that your department is very much like mine, which is an all risk department. If it happens, you have to deal with it, because... your it. You folks get what appears to be a lot of plane crashes and MVA's and more than your share of structure fires. Everyone is a paramedic, and to be honest, I was very impressed at my first impression of an Alaskan FD.
I did not that there were no hazmat responses listed on the Soldotna FD Webpage. I was going to offer you help in the world of Hazmat EMS, Hazmat Response and Hazmat Inspections but... it does not look like this is an issue for your part of the world... But if it is, that's where I can offer assistance.
Big h2o Chief
