I was divorced after 14 years of marriage. I guess that wasn't enough of a challenge for me, I needed something that didn't involve that life. A new physical, intellectual and emotional challenge. Wildland firefighting presented itself to me, and I began my career as a firefighter at age 42. I began structure at 45. I volunteer (POC) in a town that is one square mile in size. I live five miles out of town. I still work wildland as an engine boss (it pays the bills). I recently took the EMT-B course. I passed my practical, now for the written!
