About Me:
I am a mother and wife, I love to go hunting, fishing, and camping. I recently joined WLLVFD as a firefighter, first responder, and love every minute of my job. There isn't a better feeling in the world aside from helping people when they need us the most..well other than coming home and hugging my kiddo. I have a great support system and great new family of brothers and sisters, my job I do not take lightly at all.
Day Job:
Homemaker

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I didn't choose firefighting or first responder the job chose me, and I love it. The reason I joined was all thanks to growing up with a step dad who was a firefighter, first responder, for 24 years I watched him leave dinner, or my school game even though I knew he hated leaving I knew that helping others was on his mind and he did his job greatly with honor. I decided that I was going to follow in his footsteps long ago but being a mother I thought I couldn't do it, I finally decided to start checking into my local departments when I moved back home and I am glad I did. Helping others when they need us the most is a big job, and I love it. With me it's not about the hero title, it's about being there for someone, letting them know that help is there, about holding that child in loving, comforting and caring arms as their family member is pulled from a wreckage, it's about helping the 80 year old woman who can't catch a good breath in bed as you stand at her window talking to her so she knows she isn't alone while a family member comes to unlock the door, there isn't enough words to describe the feeling that helping others gives me, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. That is why I joined the fire department. It's not a title, it's a passion you honor!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
They are amazing people who give up so much to save a life, everyone is family on our VFD and they see every FF/FR as family across the nation. They are compassionate about their jobs, and honor their places among our community
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I feel that support is a big issue small departments such as mine are facing, funding to upgrade tools, and equipment.
