About Me:
I joined the Fire Dept. 7 years ago after a friend pestered me enough to join, he was the Chief at the time. At first I had no interest at all in this proffession, but I am sure glad he did. I now live, breath and sleep firefighting. It takes up more time than my day job, however I wouldnt want it any other way. 3 years ago I was promoted to Deputy Chief, along with a new Chief, and am now a member with the MAFC, Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs. Since then we restructured the Dept, along with new members, which have contributed strongly. We now have more of a budget, new equiptment, more training....more of everything. But no need to stop there. The process of learning and making things better should never stop.
Day Job:
Nh3 maintanence/operator/inspector
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
At first it was from a friend pestering me to join
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love the rush of a call, the orinized chaos of a scene, the teamwork and dedication, but most of all, the feeling of helping people through a rough time or experience. Thats the greatest reward
Top Issues Facing Responders:
the world is changing. with small communities, knowlege, training, resources and funding is always hard. being on top of the game isnt easy......train train train....ask everyone for all kinds aof tips,solutions,ideas....
