Firemanship I, Firemanship II, First Responder (now Emergency Care Provider), Certified Volunteer Firefighter, Hazardous Materials: Awareness & Operations, and Firefighter II certifications through the Alabama Fire College, as well as Basic Wildland Firefighter (S-130/S-190) through the National Park Service.
About Me:
I am a firefighter with the Underwood-Petersville community north of Florence, AL. I have been in the fire service and my department for going on 2 years. I first fell in love with the job at Phoenix Firecamp in Utica, NY. I am about to graduate from the University of North Alabama with a bachelor's in Criminal Justice, minoring in Emergency Management, and look forward to starting a career in the fire service.
My freshman year of college I began to feel that my major at the time, while being something I still enjoyed, wasn't as fulfilling as it used to be, and wasn't going to get me by after school. I wanted to do something I could take pride in. I thought about being a firefighter, applied to a female firefighting camp as a test of myself, and fell in love with the work.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
There's no better environment, no work more fulfilling.
