Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Always wanted to do medical work. Retired from 35 years as a teacher & got certified as an EMT. Was a member of the Maricopa Co. Medical Rescue Posse (Sheriff Joe Arpaio) in Arizona before moving to Nyack.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I feel that people are truly appreciative of what we do, and I enjoy the cameraderie of the type of people who do EMS. We are all people who truly want to help.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Getting volunteers. EMS in our Hudson Valley towns is Regional Paramedics supplemented with volunteer ambulances. People no longer have or make the time to volunteer as much as they used to.
