Hello there. Many generations of Firefighters here. My father in-law is a retired FF. I have two brother in-laws that are Lieutenant's and my step daughter is a Firefighter.My husband is a Captain. I am a retired/disabled Chief. (not really "disabled" cause I do work full-time)
Anyway......just wanted to say hi. Will be in Chicago in August for business but wanted to check out a firehouse or two. Are they "stranger" friendly?
I'm friends with some of NYFD folks but I know if they don't know you they can be mighty cold if you just show up at one their houses. Are Chicago firefighters like that? Should I head out of town to a volunteer fire department? I intend to bring some patches if that helps.
