Both departments are great. I work with good dedicated people. I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by the people I work with. Like talking about my mistakes so other will learn. I worked on both sides of the fence as a contract FF/medic, Part time and Full time in the burbs all well as Chicago.

Like to drill. FF II, EMT-P/ FAE/ Haz Mat Tech- A
About Me:
I Enjoy the fire service. Some times I look at the firehouse while I'm at work at cant believe a job like this exists. I like both sides of the floor, Fire and EMS. I dont think we are heroes. I believe that other people benefit from the fact that we get to do what we love.
Day Job:
avoiding people that annoy me
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
KInda fell into it. Dad was a firefighter. Started in EMS then got hired part time in the burbs. Got My fire certifcation. Worked full time for a couple of years as a FF/Medic in the suburbs until i made it to Chicago. I still work with a great bunch of people in a POC department.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Its f**king great.

Where exactly did you take your flight? We have a glider port here in Santa Barbara where I live. It's on my list of things to do, and it's in my backyard. I've worked at the fire station numerous times that has the glider port in the backyard... ms

Taking a flight in a glider is something that I've always wanted to do but just have not gotten around to doing. And we have a famous one here in my backyard as well. Santa Ynez, CA, with the ocean on one side of the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Padres National Forest on the other. You might be familiar with Michael Jackson's Neverland Valley Ranch, which is here in the valley along with Beau Derek, Michael McDonald, David Crosby, Bob Eubanks and other movie and music types. The views and thermals from what I've been told are really cool. I've flown the area many times in one of our helicopters as a crew member but I'm sure that glider flying is a whole different ballgame. The noise factor for one has to be better, specially when a helicopter turns and the blades bite into the air. Happy flying my friend and stay safe, Mike

Last Time I commented to you was when your profile was hard to read, Glad U changed it, it's better on my eyes. i was in Chicago 1n 1996 for a short stop over, apart form the Taxi ride I had, all was great over there, I would go back to America in a heart beat. Hope U are well and hope it stays that way.
