Thanks for the comment. He just had his 74 th birthday and today he went back to Atlanta, GA for his 3 and 6 month check up. Both CT scans he had last week are still clear and cancer free. He is a walking miracle. The fire service is taking a hit with so many new cancer cases everyday I read about new reports and it scares the crap out of me so protect yourself .
You are welcome... Nice pics I have been nursing for 10 years.. just getting ready to head into work pretty soon.. I do 12 hr shift 3 in a row... I just getting done form 4 12's ready for a break.... Stay safe and fill free to write anytime.....
Yes, I went to NYC on Sept. 11, 2006. It was a great honor for me and for my Association to be invited to pay the tribute to those 343 fallen heroes that we'll never forget. It was a very hard week for me. A lot of emotons and tears in the cerimonies and when I step the Ground Zero. I'm sure that I changed a lot since then. Only who goes there can imagine a little bit of what happened. It's completly different seeing on TV or in photos.
Stay care and safe, my friend.

this was supposed to be a message, but it won't let me send messages. i think it's because of this crappy internet service we have over here (iraq).
LT,
ever since i can remember, i've wanted to be a firefighter. i joined the military back in 2002, and got suckered into a REALLY crappy job, otherwise i would've gone fire/crash rescue. i've joined a volly house near my home duty station, and i now know i was meant to do this. i've never had a fire in me for anything like i do now.
my question is this. what do i have to do to make myself a desirable candidate for the BCFD? i get out in 2011 (june), so i have a lot of prep time, but i want them to say "we NEED that guy!!"
any pointer's you could give would be really great.
thanks,
Nick.
p.s. - anyone else that has any useful tips, i'm ALWAYS interested. first thing i learned when i joined...listen to EVERYONE, because they're guaranteed to know at least one thing you don't.
wow have i been away from this site for a while!!! mike im doing great!!! still in full remission.feeling great, work'in hard. GOD has very gracious to me. i go to the dr. every three months to see if im still in remission.so far all is well. i told another brother, the drug im on was onlly to get me to transplant but it put me in remission. well, thats what the doctors think anyway. i know it was the faithfull prayers of GODS people and nothing more!! if you have been praying for me , thank you . if you havent please start . the transplant does'nt sound like all that much fun and im enjoying the time i have . hows thing goin for you? you still on the job? talk to you later , brian
Hello how are you doing been awhile since we talked, just letting you know I am back on the truck.I have done mwell so far on the job and hope it continues to go well.
hey mike sorry i havent gotten back to you . still dont have the net at my house . this is a rare occasion for me to be on. i really miss this site and talking to all my "friends", here! well , im stil in remission as far as i know waiting to here from the doc on latest blood work. i feel great ! i hope things are still good for you and are back on the job. thanks again for the prayers , thats the best remedy for whatever problem we have! talk to you later.
Hey hows it going hope all is still well with you.Bet your keeping busy and getting into lots of stuff.I am on face boon too so look me up there if you have one.Have a great rest of the week,Take care an God Bless.
inside our little "city" we do have hydrants, but 90% of our fire are in the county. this a shuttle training with mutual aid depts.trying to get away from the old,' our dept is better than your dept"syndrome! we have to work together!
just watched that video, wow!I would think jumping would have been better than burning. was he stuck on something? as for the rest of his crew, where were they,? did that dept only have one ladder? at one point there were six guys on that one ladder!it was sad to see the one guy trying to help was without an scba.there's a lot that i don't understand about that video, i would like to have it translated to know what exactly the thinking on that fiasco was!
i agree! i was just appointed training officer for my dept.we are a very small dept low run volume. trying to get guys to show up for training is the hardest thing?being that we don't run that much scares the crap outta me cause that's how someone will get killed.we actually only have a hand full of guys that are trained to FF1 level. that leaves the lions share of the work to a few of us.as the the new TO i have a big job ahead of me!not sure how to share my enthusiasm with the rest of the guys and get those that don't have training , trained!
we aren't in the same universe!last year we had something like 35-40 runs total. mostly car accidents . we have a separate rescue squad that takes care of ambulance and extrication, i volunteer on for them also.in fact our squad covers more square miles than any other squad in all of Michigan.
about four years ago the only paid dept around was hiring so i filled out the app.then i was invited to take there agility test(which just about killed me,man was i outta shape)and actually got an interview .i kinda talked my way out of the job cause i would have had to take a huge pay cut!i sometimes kick myself but that's life.
